'TIME' man is not manly
TIME has crowned 'YOU' as its 'man of the year'. 'You' stands for you, me and all those watching or enriching the internet. Humbug, say the leery-eyed. They called the magazine's choice unthoughtful and out of line with realities.

What type of a person is 'YOU'? Time sketches 'YOU' as a revolutionary on the way to upending the known order of things. For Time argues that the time spent on visiting the sites makes 'YOU' a master of the information age. Also under threat from 'YOU' is the conventional media. On a close look however, 'YOU' turns out to be a lightweight with an yen for all those non-serious stuff. For that reason a film star nude on the beach gets six times more clicks than any of the burning issues plaguing the world.

If it is so, surfing has only replaced drugs that offer a moment's relief from the real world we all hate. To 'YOU' therefore, the web is no more than a 'pleasure pod'. Many or most of the movie themes these days are no different.
